"Dead on the inside, barely alive on the outside"

Films: Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Alias: Various

Type: Unknown, possibly Mutant

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of average humans.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Zombie films are positively done to death. But hey, it doesn't always have to be so boring. Sometimes, you just need to suck it up and offer the human characters some more interesting parts. Instant solution? Just add Simon Pegg.

History: Meet Shaun. Store clerk, couch potato, and all-around loser. Both he and his roommate Ed are living the life directionless before a zombie outbreak comes out of nowhere. It'll be the most action they’ve seen in years, as the horde grows larger and the chances of survival become slimmer. Both they and some others will have to come to terms with their places in life before the nightmare can hope to end.

Notable Kills: Tear into someone in a way that would make "Day of the Dead" proud.

Final Fate: After Ed is bitten by Shaun’s zombified stepfather Philip, he and the survivors escape the zombies, which are soon killed en masse by the army. Soon, the zombies that survived become the source of quality TV and labor, while Shaun lives with a zombified Ed, who must live in the shed for all eternity and play video games with his friend. Not the worst ending, really.

Powers/Abilities: Can infect people with a bite.

Weakness: Aim for the head. Also, if you shamble and make moaning noises, the dead won't be able to tell you from the living.

Scariness Factor: 4-Even in a comedy such as this, the zombies are no more vicious than they are in your typical Romero-style horror. Without the levity, you'd have yourself a regular nightmare of the violent undead.

Trivia: -This is the first film in the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, all of which are directed by Edgar Wright, and have involvement from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It also includes "Hot Fuzz" and "The World's End".

-George Romero was so impressed by this film that he offered Wright and Pegg to cameo in "Land of the Dead". They are a pair of chained-up zombies in the film proper.
